History of Ang Thong Highway District
Ang Thong Highway District is a government agency under the Department of Highways, Ministry of Transport. Its responsibility is to maintain roads according to the Highway Act B.E. 2535 (1992) and its amendments B.E. 2549 (2006).
Ang Thong Highway District was established on September 9, 2003, by Department of Highways Order No. J.1.9/11/2546, under Highway Office 10 (Suphan Buri). Originally named the "Ang Thong Road Maintenance Office," its objective was integrated administration to ensure efficient highway maintenance and maximum benefit to the public. It received road sections from Ayutthaya Highway District, Suphan Buri Highway District 1, Lop Buri Highway District 1, and the Royal Irrigation Department. Its temporary office was located at the Bang Pahan toll plaza, at Km. 42 + 450 (median), Highway No. 32 (Asian Highway), Bang Pa-in – Nakhon Sawan section, in Han Sang Subdistrict, Bang Pahan District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Subsequently, a Department of Highways order, No. J.1.9/12/47, dated June 4, 2005, changed the name from "Ang Thong Maintenance Office" to "Ang Thong - Ayutthaya Maintenance Office". In August 2009, the Ang Thong Highway District Office was relocated to 128 Moo 8, Tambon Rong Chang, Amphoe Pa Mok, Ang Thong Province, at Km. 43+000 (left side) of Highway No. 309, Bang Sadet - Thi Din Intersection section, in Tambon Rong Chang, Amphoe Pa Mok, Ang Thong Province. Furthermore, a Department of Highways order, No. W.1.9/7/2558, dated February 26, 2015, changed the name from "Ang Thong - Ayutthaya Maintenance Office" to "Ang Thong Highway District Office," under the jurisdiction of Highway Office 12 (Suphan Buri). It is responsible for four highway maintenance sections: Pa Mok Highway Maintenance Section, Ang Thong Highway Maintenance Section, Pho Thong Highway Maintenance Section, and Bang Pa Han Highway Maintenance Section.
